Thaumatophyllum 'African Fantasy', also circulated under older Philodendron trade names, is a self-supporting hybrid valued for leaves that begin entire and later become more deeply lobed as the plant matures. It combines strong, upright structure with a broad canopy, so indoors it works best as a floor plant where the evolving foliage can spread without crowding nearby plants.
Bright indirect light encourages larger, more divided leaves, while watering after the top few centimetres dry helps keep the thick root system moist but not stagnant. Use a deep, airy aroid mix, keep temperatures around 18 – 27 °C with moderate humidity, and remember that all tissues contain insoluble calcium oxalates and are toxic if chewed.
