About Foliage Factory

Foliage Factory is a family-run online plant shop based in Germany, specialising in tropical houseplants, collector plants, plant-care supplies and accessories.

What began in 2017 with a growing plant collection, swapping cuttings and a fascination with unusual plants gradually became Foliage Factory. Since 2018, we have been sending plants to homes across Europe.

Today, we work across Germany and the Netherlands, growing and propagating some plants ourselves and sourcing others from specialist European growers.

A small team with a lot of plants

Foliage Factory is run by Jan and Jagna together with a small team.

Our base is in Zimmern ob Rottweil in southern Germany. Growing, propagating, photographing, packing and writing about plants are all part of our day-to-day work.

There is also usually a cat (or four) somewhere nearby.

How we choose and grow our plants

Our range includes familiar houseplants as well as unusual species, cultivated forms and collector plants.

We source plants from specialist growers in Europe and propagate part of the range ourselves. We look closely at plant quality and correct identification when choosing what to offer.

Living plants naturally vary. Leaf shape, colour, variegation, size and growth habit can differ from one specimen to another, so we photograph and describe our plants as clearly as possible to give you a realistic idea of what you are buying.

Plants are checked before packing and prepared carefully for transport.

Plant knowledge is part of what we do

Selling a plant is only one part of the job.

We want customers to understand what they are growing and how to care for it. Our product pages and Plant Care Guides combine practical growing experience with botanical and horticultural research.

Across our product pages and Plant Care Guides, you will find information about light, watering, temperature, humidity, substrates, growth habits and common problems.

The aim is to give you useful information that helps you make informed decisions before buying a plant and care for it once it arrives.

Packing and shipping living plants

Living plants need careful preparation for transport.

Each order is packed by hand, with the packaging adapted to the plants, parcel size and expected weather conditions. During cold weather, we add heat protection when required, and shipping may be delayed during temperatures that could put plants at unnecessary risk.

Support after your order arrives

If something is wrong with your order or you have questions about a plant after delivery, our customer-support team is available to help.

Eligible plants are also covered by our 28-day plant guarantee, subject to the conditions and regional exclusions explained in our Guarantee & Returns policy.
