Philodendron lapoanum is a recently described climbing species from Colombia’s Chocó region, grown for sleek glossy leaves that stay lanceolate to narrowly elliptical even in maturity. The foliage is simpler and cleaner than in many collector philodendrons, with a narrow midrib and fine lateral venation that make the plant look precise rather than heavy. It climbs steadily when given a textured pole and can reach around 1.5–2 m indoors without becoming wide.
Bright, filtered light keeps internodes shorter and the gloss more even, while watering after the top 2–3 cm of substrate has dried prevents yellowing from compacted wet mix. It prefers 18–28 °C, humidity from 60–80%, and a breathable aroid substrate.
Like most aroids, it is toxic if ingested and fits best where a tall, clean green column is more useful than broad leaf drama.
