Hoya 'Chelsea' is a standout cultivar of Hoya carnosa, loved for its glossy, heart-shaped leaves with gently puckered surfaces. It offers a clean, sculptural look compared to the tightly curled growth of Hoya carnosa var. compacta. As a trailing epiphyte, it's ideal for shelves, trellises, or hanging planters. With bright indirect light and stable conditions, 'Chelsea' can produce fragrant, pale pink flowers with red centers – a signature trait of its species.
The name Hoya honors English gardener Thomas Hoy (circa 1750 – 1822), a specialist in tropical plant cultivation. Botanist Robert Brown named the genus after him in 1810 in recognition of Hoy’s horticultural contributions.
With its sculptural, heart-shaped foliage and low-maintenance personality, Hoya 'Chelsea' adds texture and beauty to any space. Easy to grow, long-lived, and full of character – it's the perfect choice for trailing planters, shelves, or a cozy green corner.
