Sweet Orange carries rounded fruit that expands from dark green to bright orange, with a finely dimpled rind and juicy segmented flesh. Waxy white orange blossom opens among broad, glossy leaves and gives off the rich fragrance associated with mature orange trees.
Regular pruning can maintain a container-grown tree near 1.5 m, while its eventual vigour also depends on pot volume and rootstock. Mature leaves become thick and leathery, and the rounded crown may hold flowers, green fruit and ripe oranges together. Unpruned trees growing in warm ground can become much larger.
