Philodendron × mandaianum 'Ruby' is a 2014 hybrid between Philodendron erubescens and Philodendron hastatum selected for strong red to burgundy colour in both stems and foliage. It keeps a slim climbing frame rather than turning bulky, so the dark red petioles and flushed blades remain visible instead of disappearing into a dense plant mass. With support it usually reaches around 80–150 cm indoors and looks most convincing when trained upward.
Bright, indirect light deepens the colour, while watering after the top 2–3 cm of substrate has dried helps prevent the yellowing and softness that come with waterlogged roots. Temperatures around 20–28 °C, humidity from 60–80%, and a chunky aroid mix keep it moving steadily. It is toxic if ingested and suits growers who want darker colour on a true climber.
