Peperomia prostrata, widely known as String of Turtles, trails delicate stems lined with tiny round leaves patterned in pale veins over a darker green base, creating a shell-like mosaic effect. The plant stays very low in height but can extend its vines to around 30 cm, so it works best in shallow planters, terrariums, or on shelf edges where the fine pattern can be appreciated up close.
Bright, indirect light keeps the markings clearer, while a loose, airy substrate and moderate watering help prevent the root rot that comes with soggy conditions. Let the upper layer dry slightly between waterings, keep humidity moderate to high, and avoid harsh direct sun that can scorch the small leaves. It is non-toxic and especially useful where you want trailing detail rather than bulk.
