Ctenanthe burle-marxii is a rhizomatous Marantaceae houseplant with oval leaves marked by dark green fishbone patterning on a paler green background. The foliage forms a tidy clump, with purplish undersides adding depth when the leaves lift and turn through their daily movement. Native to Brazil, it prefers bright indirect light, steady warmth, high humidity, and an evenly moist, well-aerated potting mix. Soft water is helpful where available, and consistent drainage keeps the root zone fresh. Its compact patterned foliage suits shelves, plant groups, and smaller indoor displays.
