Alocasia 'Loco' is a compact cultivated Alocasia with crinkled, folded leaves and a tight upright habit. Its blades develop puckered surfaces, curled margins and uneven edges, giving the plant a dense, textured look in a small pot.
New leaves rise on short petioles and harden into their twisted shape as they mature. The unusual texture is part of the plant's normal growth, so healthy foliage can look wrinkled, folded and irregular while still feeling firm.
Alocasia 'Loco' develops a crinkled leaf form. The wrinkled surface, curled margins and uneven blade shape are normal features of the cultivar, especially as each new leaf firms up after opening.
The folded leaf surface can hold water in small pockets after overhead watering. Watering at substrate level and keeping gentle airflow around the plant helps reduce spotting in the folds.
Alocasia 'Loco' is toxic to pets and children that chew plants. Chewed leaves, petioles or underground parts can irritate the mouth and stomach; place the plant away from pets and children that bite plants.
Alocasia belongs to Araceae. The genus name combines Greek a-, meaning apart from, with Colocasia, a related aroid name. Alocasia 'Loco' has compact crinkled foliage and curled leaf texture.
