Piper sp. Kalimantan 'Watermelon' is a slow compact climber from Borneo with deep green, heart-shaped leaves veined in pale silver in a pattern reminiscent of watermelon rind. The foliage is velvety to satin-like, slightly bullate, and much more textured than a plain green vine, which makes it especially attractive for cabinets, moss poles, or shingling displays where detail matters. It usually stays around 30–50 cm indoors unless given more support and time, so it offers strong texture without becoming unmanageable.
Bright, indirect light, steady warmth, and very high humidity keep the leaf surface clean and well defined, while direct sun and dry air quickly cause crisping. Use a loose, airy aroid-style mix, keep it evenly moist without waterlogging, and treat it as a true collector plant for stable tropical setups.
