Ficus lyrata, the fiddle-leaf fig, is a tropical Ficus with large leathery violin-shaped leaves and a strong upright indoor tree habit. Broad leaf blades, wavy margins, and pronounced veins give the plant its recognisable shape as the woody stem becomes more defined. In containers it grows as a large-leaved foliage tree, with each leaf adding strongly to the overall outline. Milky latex may appear from damaged leaves or stems, so keep sap away from skin, eyes, pets, and children. Warm indoor conditions, bright filtered light, good drainage, and consistent watering keep the leaf blades firm and clean.
