Cocos nucifera is a young coconut palm with the sprouted nut visible at the base and long green fronds rising from a central crown. Its open palm habit adds height gradually as each new frond expands from the spear. Indoor growth depends on very bright light, steady warmth, higher humidity and a free-draining substrate with careful moisture control. Water thoroughly, let excess drain, and keep the emerging spear and root zone warm. Older fronds naturally age from the lower part of the crown. A sheltered, consistently warm position supports active roots and healthy new frond development. Monitor the crown regularly, as coconut palms respond poorly to cold or stagnant wet conditions.
