Your new plant has already been through packing, transport, and changing temperatures, so give it a sheltered start.
Agastache 'Blue Fortune' brings vertical colour through the hottest part of the year: upright stems topped with lavender-blue, bottlebrush-style flower spikes from mid-summer into early autumn. The foliage is aromatic, and the plant stays clump-forming, so it holds its place in a border without running.
Expect roughly 60 to 90 cm in height in good conditions, with a narrower spread. It’s at its best where the soil drains freely and the site stays bright.
This is a good plant for the middle of a sunny border, gravel-style beds, and warm wall edges where drainage is naturally better. It pairs well with plants that like similar conditions - airy grasses and drought-tolerant perennials - because the clump stays upright and doesn’t creep. Clump-forming perennials establish most cleanly when roots get both moisture and air. Cold, wet soil in spring is what slows the first flush and can leave growth patchy.
Garden hybrid agastache with North American parentage, selected for upright violet-blue flower spikes.
