Dieffenbachia 'Compacta' is a compact Dieffenbachia with broad cream-green patterned leaves growing around short upright stems. The leaves sit close together, giving the plant a full shape without much height.
Because the plant stays compact, a pot that fits the roots is easier to water well. Warm conditions and an open mix help keep the base firm.
Dieffenbachia 'Compacta' belongs to Araceae, the aroid family. It has short stems and broad leaves, with the upright habit typical of many Dieffenbachias.
The name 'Compacta' refers to this smaller, denser growth compared with taller Dieffenbachias.
Cut leaves or stems can release irritating sap. Broken or ingested tissue can irritate the mouth, skin and eyes. Keep Dieffenbachia 'Compacta' out of reach of pets and children, keep hands away from the face during pruning and wash tools after cutting.
Dieffenbachia is named after Joseph Dieffenbach of the Schönbrunn palace gardens in Vienna. 'Compacta' refers to the smaller, denser habit. This plant has cream-green mottled leaves around short upright stems.
