Syngonium podophyllum 'Maria Allusion' has dark green juvenile leaves with red-bronze surface tones and pink to red veining. The colour sits inside a neat arrowhead-leaf shape, giving young plants a dense, compact look.
Older plants can shift from a short leafy shape into trailing or climbing growth as the stems extend from their nodes. Pruning keeps the plant compact, while a support lets the stems attach and develop upward.
Syngonium podophyllum 'Maria Allusion' carries red-bronze and pinkish-purple tones over a dark green base. Pink to red veins run through the blade and give the juvenile leaves their strongest contrast.
Young plants often appear compact because the petioles and leaves sit closely together. With time, the stem extends from visible nodes, and the plant can be trained upward, allowed to trail or cut back to keep a shorter outline.
Syngonium podophyllum 'Maria Allusion' should not be chewed or ingested. Its aroid tissues contain calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, lips and throat.
Syngonium podophyllum is a climbing aroid species from tropical America, widely grown in juvenile form as an indoor plant. Syngonium refers to joined floral structures, and podophyllum refers to stalked leaves.
