Schismatoglottis sp. is a striking, yet undescribed species that stands out for its distinctive foliage. The mid- to dark-green leaf blades are accented with light green to white colouration around the midrib, creating a bold central highlight that draws the eye. Compact and elegant, this plant makes an excellent choice for aroid collectors who enjoy subtle but unusual foliage patterns.
Species of Schismatoglottis are distributed across tropical Asia, typically thriving in shaded, humid forest understories. They are adapted to moist soils and filtered light, conditions that should be mirrored in cultivation. This undescribed form is especially valued for its clean midrib variegation, a trait that sets it apart within the genus.
This Schismatoglottis species produces compact clumps of decorative foliage, with the light midrib providing contrast against the dark green leaf surface. Its moderate size makes it suitable for terrariums, decorative pots, or mixed foliage arrangements where subtle detail can be appreciated up close.
The genus name Schismatoglottis derives from Greek: schisma, schismatos (“separating”) and glotta (“tongue”), referring to the deciduous upper part of the spathe found in many species.
With its crisp white midrib markings and compact growth, this Schismatoglottis sp. is a rare gem for aroid enthusiasts. Order today and bring its elegant foliage into your plant collection.
