Cream and white variegation breaks across the elongated green leaves of Epipremnum pinnatum 'Variegata'. Some leaves show fine streaks, others carry larger pale sections, and the balance can change along the same vine. It can trail from a pot or be guided upright as it grows.
Epipremnum pinnatum is a wet-tropical climber native from tropical and subtropical Asia to the Pacific. It climbs like the green species, but the pale sections make good light, warmth and an airy mix more important.
White and cream areas have little or no chlorophyll, so very pale growth usually needs steadier conditions than greener growth. This matters most when the plant is small, newly rooted or being propagated.
For cuttings, choose pieces with at least one healthy growth point and some green leaf tissue. Very pale pieces may root slowly and need steadier warmth and moisture. If the vine begins producing fully green leaves, cut back to a section where pale patterning is still visible to keep variegation on that stem.
Epipremnum pinnatum 'Variegata' is not pet-safe because its leaves and stems contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If ingested, they can irritate the mouth and digestive tract. Keep the plant away from pets and small children, and wash hands after pruning or handling fresh sap.
The species name pinnatum means feathered or pinnate, a reference to the divided adult foliage the species can develop. Epipremnum means “upon a trunk”, referring to the way the genus climbs with aerial roots. 'Variegata' is used here for the cream and white variegated leaves.
