Dieffenbachia ‘Crocodile’ combines broad dark green leaves with lighter green mottling and fine pale speckles. Its signature detail appears underneath: the central rib becomes raised, ridged and distinctly crested on mature foliage. That textured line gives the cultivar its name and is far more pronounced than the smooth underside found on most other Dieffenbachias.
Small plants show the mottled upper surface first, while the unusual ridge becomes clearer as later leaves reach full size. Mature blades are substantial and slightly arched, with enough thickness to hold the rippled underside in relief. The plant eventually becomes tall and top-heavy, but its real point of difference remains close to the leaf: a rough, sculpted midrib hidden beneath an otherwise glossy tropical blade.
