Caladium ‘Purple Light’ is a compact Caladium with thin heart-shaped leaves in soft lavender-pink to purple-pink tones. The leaf centre is soft purple-pink, with green around the edge.
Leaves rise on fine upright petioles from the tuber crown. In smaller pots, the plant stays compact, with fine petioles and thin leaves.
After the leaves fade, the tuber rests below the surface until warmth and light moisture return. While the plant is growing, leaves emerge one after another from the crown.
Caladium ‘Purple Light’ may produce a spathe and spadix. Remove the flower once it fades.
Caladium ‘Purple Light’ contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If eaten, plant parts can irritate the mouth, throat and stomach. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.
Foliage Caladiums trace back to tropical American species, especially Caladium bicolor. The genus name Caladium comes from Malay keladi.
