Amydrium zippelianum is a robust climbing aroid from eastern Malesia to New Guinea. Its foliage is green and substantial, with a clearly impressed vein pattern that gives hardened leaves a strongly modelled surface.
Young growth begins smaller and thinner close to the climbing surface. The blades gain length, weight and deeper relief as the stem advances, while aerial roots fasten each section to its support. Leaf outline can vary during development and between cultivated plants, so the mature species is best recognised by its heavy texture and pronounced venation. Older vines carry the largest, firmest leaves above progressively smaller juvenile growth.
