Alocasia 'Golden Dragon' is a larger-growing Alocasia with deep green leaves and golden-yellow colouring through the midrib, veins and petioles. The plant has an upright petiole habit, with each blade lifted clearly above the pot.
This Alocasia can develop substantial leaf mass, so it needs a stable pot, bright filtered light and a chunky substrate that holds the plant firmly while keeping oxygen around the roots. Warm roots and careful watering matter more than frequent repotting.
The leaf size and upright petioles of Alocasia 'Golden Dragon' make light direction noticeable. If the plant leans strongly, rotate it gradually and keep the light bright but filtered. Sudden direct sun can mark the leaf surface and pale vein areas.
A chunky mix helps anchor the plant while keeping the root zone open. This matters for a larger Alocasia because broad leaves and tall petioles still depend on roots that stay warm, aerated and free from stale moisture.
Alocasia 'Golden Dragon' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it out of reach of pets and children, and wash hands after pruning or handling damaged tissue.
Alocasia is part of Araceae, and the genus name is linked to Colocasia, a related aroid name derived from Greek kolokasia.
