Alocasia 'Dragon Moon' is a compact jewel-type Alocasia with thick, textured leaves and silver-green patterning. The blades have a sculpted surface with darker veins running through the pale metallic tone, giving the foliage a dense, raised texture.
This cultivated hybrid grows well in a smaller breathable pot with bright filtered light, warm roots and a chunky mix that dries slightly at the top while staying lightly moist deeper down. Its rhizome and roots need oxygen around them, so stale moisture is the main risk indoors.
The heavy texture of Alocasia 'Dragon Moon' makes the leaves sensitive to mineral residue and standing moisture on the blade surface. Water the substrate rather than the leaves, and remove hard-water marks gently so the raised texture stays clean.
New leaves can mark or stick if the air is very dry, especially while the blade is still folded. Steady humidity, warmth and an undisturbed root zone give emerging leaves the best chance to open cleanly.
Alocasia 'Dragon Moon' should be kept away from pets and small children. Chewed leaves or stems can cause irritation because Alocasia tissue contains calcium oxalate crystals.
Alocasia 'Dragon Moon' is a cultivated hybrid between Alocasia melo and Alocasia baginda 'Silver Dragon'. The thick leaf texture reflects the Alocasia melo side, while the silver-green colour and darker vein pattern reflect the Alocasia baginda 'Silver Dragon' parent. The genus name Alocasia is connected to Colocasia, an older aroid name traced to Greek kolokasia.
