Alocasia 'Corazon' has broad, lustrous pale-green leaves with a firm surface and a simple shield-like outline. The broad blades sit on upright petioles, giving a mature plant a clear horizontal spread and a smooth pale-green leaf surface.
Indoors it behaves like a warm, moisture-sensitive Alocasia. It wants bright filtered light, a breathable substrate and careful watering that keeps the root zone lightly moist during active growth without leaving the pot cold and wet.
The broad leaves of Alocasia 'Corazon' need steady root moisture and oxygen around the roots. A dry root ball can lead to edge browning and tired leaf texture, while a dense wet mix can damage roots and show up as yellowing, soft petioles or sudden leaf loss.
Because the leaves are wide and relatively firm, they collect dust and show pest damage clearly. Wipe the surface gently when needed and check the undersides of the leaves, the petiole junctions and the newest growth points during routine care.
Alocasia 'Corazon' is toxic if chewed. The plant contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, throat and digestive tract of pets and people.
The genus Alocasia sits in Araceae and was published at genus rank as Alocasia (Schott) G.Don. Its name is linked to Colocasia, another aroid genus with a name traced back to Greek kolokasia.
