Schismatoglottis sp. is a rare, undescribed species admired for its unique foliage patterning. The mid- to dark-green blades are highlighted with irregular lime-green splashes, giving the plant a lively, painterly look. Similar in appearance to Schismatoglottis pusilla, but with broader and more widely spread variegation, this form stands out as a highly decorative yet compact aroid suited for collectors.
Species of Schismatoglottis occur widely in tropical Asia, especially in humid forest understories near streams and shaded ground. They thrive in stable, moist conditions with filtered light. This undescribed form from Southeast Asia carries unique lime variegation that makes it distinct within the genus.
This Schismatoglottis sp. grows steadily in clumps, producing variegated leaves that maintain year-round interest. Its compact size makes it ideal for terrarium culture, smaller pots, or as part of a larger foliage display with contrasting textures.
The genus name Schismatoglottis comes from Greek: schisma, schismatos (“separating”) and glotta (“tongue”), referring to the deciduous upper part of the spathe found in many species.
With mid-green leaves splashed in lime variegation, this undescribed Schismatoglottis is a rare and elegant choice for collectors. Order today and bring its unique foliage to your tropical plant collection.
