Rhipsalis teres f. prismatica is a branching form of Rhipsalis teres with narrow stems and angular, bristly-tipped upper segments. Its growth can be spreading, compact and textured, with a geometric pattern created by the angled stem sections.
Shorter angled upper stems and small setose areoles give this plant a tight, textured outline. Indoors, it needs a bright filtered position, an airy root zone and watering that avoids long wet periods.
Rhipsalis teres f. prismatica forms narrow branching stems with a mix of rounded and angled sections. Shorter upper segments create the more angular outline, with fine bristles around the areoles.
Rhipsalis teres is native to south and southeast Brazil. In a pot, this angular branching form responds well to filtered light and a free-draining mineral-organic substrate.
This angular Rhipsalis is generally treated as pet-safe. Chewing the narrow stems can still cause mild stomach upset, and small bristles may irritate sensitive mouths or paws.
The species epithet teres means rounded or cylindrical, referring to the rounded stem sections of Rhipsalis teres.
