Rhipsalis cereuscula 'Cashero' is a compact, segmented epiphytic cactus with dense, coral-like branching when young. Its short cylindrical branchlets cluster at the tips, giving the plant a rounded, textured look before the stems lengthen and trail more freely.
Rhipsalis cereuscula is a South American epiphytic cactus with narrow segmented stems and small pale flowers on mature plants. Indoors, 'Cashero' brings a tight clustered stem pattern with a fuller, beaded outline.
Rhipsalis cereuscula produces two main stem types: longer extension stems and shorter clustered branchlets. The shorter segments create the coral-like shape, while older stems can lengthen and hang over the pot edge.
The dense branch clusters need an airy root zone and careful watering. Water trapped in a compact, heavy substrate can lead to soft yellow segments, especially when light or temperature is low.
Rhipsalis cereuscula 'Cashero' is generally treated as pet-safe. Chewing the segmented stems may still cause mild stomach upset.
Haworth described Rhipsalis cereuscula in 1830. The species is native from Bolivia to Brazil and northeast Argentina, where it grows as an epiphytic cactus.
