Philodendron maximum is a large climbing aroid grown for oversized green leaves with a broad, elongated outline and heavy mature scale. Young plants can look fairly simple, but established growth produces much larger blades when the stem has height and space. This species can become a dominant indoor Philodendron, with leaf size and support needs increasing noticeably as it matures. The broad blades need room around them during unfurling to reduce mechanical marks. Sap and chewed tissue can irritate skin or mouth.
