Young Sierrana plants show several stages of early leaf development. Plants in the small size can carry simple heart-shaped leaves, early marginal splits or one or more internal openings, so the starting form varies from plant to plant.
The extending stem climbs with aerial roots and produces larger foliage as it establishes. Older leaves can become deeply divided into narrow lobes, with perforations positioned close to the central midrib. This adult form develops gradually, and each young plant reaches it at its own pace.
