Homalomena sp. Papua is a spectacular, as yet undescribed species collected from Papua. It stands out with its deeply ribbed, glossy dark green leaves and the vivid contrast of a midrib that shifts in tones of red and yellow. Compact but bold in appearance, this plant is highly sought after by collectors of rare aroids, bringing both colour and texture to any foliage display.
This species originates in the lush forests of Papua, where Homalomenas thrive in humid, shaded understories. The ribbed leaf structure and vivid midrib colouring are likely adaptations to its natural low-light environment, making it well suited to indoor conditions that replicate filtered tropical light and steady humidity.
In cultivation, Homalomena sp. Papua grows steadily and retains its foliage year-round when kept in stable conditions. Its ribbed texture and colourful midrib make it a strong visual focal point, particularly in decorative pots where the foliage can be viewed closely.
The genus name Homalomena comes from the Greek words homalos (“flat”) and mene (“moon”), a reference to the rounded, moon-like leaf shape of some species in the group.
With ribbed dark green foliage and a striking red-yellow midrib, Homalomena sp. Papua is a rare and highly ornamental aroid. Order today and secure this collector’s piece for your plant collection.
