Homalomena sp. Aceh 'Velvet' is grown for texture first: compact, upright growth topped with dark red leaves covered in fine pubescence that gives the surface a soft, velvety finish. This undescribed Aceh form from northern Sumatra stays more restrained than many large aroids, making it especially effective where you can view the foliage close up.
It prefers medium to bright indirect light, evenly moist but not waterlogged substrate, constant warmth around 20–28 °C, and high humidity, ideally above 70%, to keep the leaves full and uncrisped. A chunky, organic aroid mix with good drainage works best, and the colour stays richest when conditions remain stable. Growth is steady rather than fast, so stable care indoors matters more than frequent intervention.
