Dischidia platyphylla is a shingling epiphyte with wide, flat, rounded to oval leaves carried on slender vining stems. When given bark, cork or another textured support, the leaves can sit close to the surface and create a layered, architectural pattern. Grow it warm in bright indirect light, with high humidity, steady airflow, and a very open epiphyte mix or mount. Water sparingly once the surface begins to dry, as the thick leaves store moisture between waterings. A support shows the natural growth habit clearly and helps the plant develop its close-set shingling form. The broad leaves give it a bold epiphytic texture.
