Dischidia nummularia (Button) forms dense strings of thick, rounded leaves that look like green buttons. The opposite pairs sit close together on fine stems, creating a compact rhythm of cupped discs. Their surface is smooth and matte to lightly glossy, with a fresh mid-green colour and a firm succulent feel.
Plants sold as Button have close-set leaves and a tidy trailing habit. Young tips begin as a narrow line of small leaves, then fill out into fuller chains as each pair thickens. Established plants develop a broad curtain of overlapping strands, yet the button-sized foliage keeps the texture fine. Its regular round leaves differ from the clustered, scale-like growth of ‘Pangolin Kisses’ and the pointed foliage of Dischidia oiantha.
