Dischidia nummularia carries pairs of small round leaves along thin trailing stems. The blades are thick, smooth and coin-shaped, usually in muted green to blue-green, with a softly convex surface. Their succulent texture gives the vine substance even though each leaf remains compact, and older stems can form long chains of evenly repeated discs.
Young growth is bright green and flexible, with wider gaps near the exploring tip. As the vine lengthens, the foliage becomes denser and the stems begin to drape in layered strands. Mature plants can spread or hang for well over a metre, while the individual leaves usually remain around 1 cm across, sometimes a little larger on strong growth. Tiny cream to yellowish flowers may appear close to the stems, tucked between the rounded leaves.
