Cordyline obtecta ‘Albatross’, sold as Superstar, forms an upright crown of broad, glossy linear to strap-shaped leaves in deep purple-red. The substantial blades have smooth margins, a firm leathery texture and sharply tapered tips. New and mature foliage retain the same dark-purple colour.
Inner leaves rise through the centre before the longer outer blades bend into relaxed arches. A strong stem gradually becomes visible beneath the dark crown, changing the plant from a low leafy mass into a taller specimen. Further growth can produce a clump or more than one crown, increasing both its height and spread while retaining the cultivar’s broad, shiny foliage.
