Caladium ‘Pliage’ is a pale-leaved Caladium with cream to white centres, green veins and green margins. Some leaves may show a soft pink blush. The pale centre makes the green veins stand out.
The leaves are thin and arrow- to heart-shaped. They rise on individual petioles from the tuber crown. The pale parts mark easily in strong sun, so filtered light suits it better.
The tuber starts again when the pot stays warm. Keep the mix lightly moist and open while new roots form. After the leaves decline, the tuber rests until conditions are warm enough for the next round of growth.
A spathe and spadix may appear. Cut off a spent flower if you prefer the plant to keep energy in the tuber.
Caladium ‘Pliage’ contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If ingested, the leaves, petioles or tuber can irritate the mouth and digestive tract. Place it safely away from pets and children.
Like other foliage Caladiums, ‘Pliage’ belongs to the tropical American group behind many patterned indoor cultivars.
