Caladium 'Frog in a Blender' is grown for irregular green marbling. Its broad, heart-shaped leaves can show dark green, lime, chartreuse and pale green in uneven patches.
The green pattern changes as new leaves appear. One leaf may be mostly darker green, while the next may carry more lime or pale green. New leaf stalks rise from the tuber as long as the pot stays warm enough.
When the leaves fade, the tuber rests. Water much less during this period and keep the pot on the dry side until growth returns.
Like other cultivated Caladiums, it grows best with warmth, filtered light and a drier pause after the leaves fade.
Propagation is by tuber division. Divide only mature, firm tubers with visible buds or growing points. Small or weak tubers are better left whole.
Keep Caladium 'Frog in a Blender' out of reach of pets and children. The leaves, leaf stalks and tuber contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can irritate the mouth, throat, digestive tract and skin if plant tissue is eaten or handled after damage.
'Frog in a Blender' is a trade name used for this green-marbled Caladium.
