Long, slim, linear-lanceolate leaves give Anthurium rubioanum a narrow upright profile. The blades are green to olive-green, with a strap-like outline and a close marginal collective vein.
This Ecuadorian epiphyte comes from tropical wet forest and premontane wet forest habitats. Indoors, it needs an airy root zone, consistent humidity and filtered light that protects the narrow blades from scorch.
Anthurium rubioanum grows as an epiphyte, so the roots need moisture and air at the same time. A bark-based mix with coarse fibres and mineral aggregate keeps water moving through the pot while holding enough moisture for active root tips.
The narrow blades can show stress quickly at the edges when humidity drops or watering becomes erratic. Keep conditions steady during leaf expansion, and place the plant where light is bright but filtered.
Anthurium rubioanum is an aroid and contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewed plant tissue can irritate the mouth and throat, so keep it away from pets and children and handle damaged leaves with care.
Anthurium rubioanum Croat was published in Aroideana in 2025. The species name honours Daniel Rubio, who collected one of the early specimens in Ecuador.
Its upright epiphytic stem carries narrow leaves with length, close venation and clean blade spacing.
