The coloured sheaths remain visible around the short base and form a warm contrast with the foliage. Mature plants can reach about 60 cm high and wide. Older leaves show a thicker texture, sharper veins and clearer angular edges, while fresh pink growth supplies most of the colour.
The mature blades become large, dark green and softly velvety, with pale veins running through the thick surface. Anthurium pulcachense combines narrow dark green leaves with rose-pink or reddish protective sheaths around new growth. Juvenile blades are soft and bright, while mature leaves become firmer, darker and more elongated.
