Older plants can reach around 100 cm high and wide, with individual leaves growing well beyond juvenile proportions. The broad blade and strong central vein give mature foliage a heavy appearance. Four-angled petioles help identify the species, but its main visual qualities are the large velvet surface, deep colour and expanding silver vein network.
Anthurium magnificum produces broad velvet leaves with pale silver-green veins. Young growth may open bronze or reddish and feels soft and thin. Mature leaves become dark green, thicker and increasingly heart-shaped, with a dense matte surface.
