Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Sabrina Narrow' is an undescribed Alocasia from Sulawesi, Indonesia, known in cultivation for slim green leaves, softly undulating margins and patterned petioles. The leaves are long and narrow, leaving the marked stems visible above the pot.
A compact corm produces upright petioles and narrow green spears that lengthen into slim arrow-shaped blades. The petioles can show dark speckles, bands or irregular striping, with natural variation from stem to stem.
This plant is usually sold as part of the Sabrina group of Alocasia. It has narrow green leaves, softly wavy margins, patterned petioles and corm-based growth.
'Sabrina Narrow' is a cultivation name, not a formally published botanical species name.
Repot this plant when the roots have filled the pot or the mix no longer drains cleanly. Keep the pot close to the root size, because a small corm in a large wet pot is more likely to soften. Set the base slightly proud of the mix, use a structured substrate and keep the plant warm after repotting while new roots settle.
Propagation is by offsets or corm division when separate growth points form. Each division should have firm tissue, its own growth point and preferably roots already present. Small divisions need a warm, lightly humid setup and a small airy pot. Keep the mix lightly and evenly moist while the new plant rebuilds roots.
Mineral mixes can suit this plant if they stay airy and warm around the corm. Use pumice, perlite, small bark, lava rock or similar open materials with a little moisture retention. Semi-hydro can work for established plants with a shallow reservoir and the corm held above the wettest layer. Fresh divisions or stressed plants establish better in a lightly moist airy mix until active roots are present.
Indoors, expect narrow leaves, softly wavy margins and marked petioles. Flowers are not a regular feature on this plant indoors.
Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Sabrina Narrow' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if ingested. Keep it away from pets and children, and wash your hands after cutting or dividing the plant.
Once established, Alocasia sp. Sulawesi 'Sabrina Narrow' forms a compact upright plant with narrow leaves and marked petioles.
