Ninja is a compact reginula form often sold as ‘Black Ninja’, with dark, thick leaves and a more embossed surface than standard Black Velvet forms. Leaves are matte and deeply coloured, with pale veins creating strong contrast.
The plant grows from a short base and keeps a tight, upright form. Some leaves show a subtle double vein near the margin.
Alocasia reginula is linked to Borneo and grows as a compact tropical aroid.
Older plants may flower, producing a small spathe and spadix.
The species name reginula means “little queen”, which fits the compact scale of this dark-leaved Alocasia.
Warm roots, filtered light and careful watering matter most.
Keep leaves clean with a soft brush or gentle rinse, then let them dry with airflow. Keep this plant out of reach of pets and children; Alocasia tissue can irritate the mouth and throat if ingested.
