How to care for Thaumatophyllum 'African Fantasy' ('Philodendron Angela')

• Light: Bright filtered light suits 'African Fantasy'. Gentle morning or late-day sun is also suitable when introduced gradually, and good light helps mature leaves develop deeper divisions.
• Watering: Let the upper layer of potting mix dry slightly between waterings while the mix below stays lightly moist. Water thoroughly each time and let the excess drain.

Heinrich Wilhelm Schott established the genus Thaumatophyllum in 1859 in Bonplandia (Hannover), volume 7, page 31.

Cassia Mônica Sakuragui, Luana Calazans and Simon Mayo revived Thaumatophyllum for this group in 2018 in PhytoKeys, volume 98. Kew’s World Checklist now places the group in Philodendron, so both genus names are still encountered.
