Rhipsalis pacheco-leonis ssp. catenulata
The stems of this subspecies narrow at repeated intervals, so the hanging branches appear assembled from linked sections. Each segment ranges from cylindrical to subtly angular, and young areoles may carry a trace of wool or fine bristles. The repeated constrictions create its distinctive catenulate, or chain-like, outline.
Branches divide and lengthen into a loose hanging crown rather than flattening into broad leaf-like pads. Pale pink to reddish flowers can arise along the outer growth and may be followed by rounded red fruits. The chain effect remains the clearest distinction from smoother, evenly cylindrical Rhipsalis stems, especially where successive narrow joints turn at slightly different angles along the hanging branches.
