Rhaphidophora tetrasperma variegata 'Green on green' is a tonal variegated form of Rhaphidophora tetrasperma with split leaves and paler green patterning. The foliage shows green-on-green variation, with softer shifts across the leaf surface.
The plant keeps the species’ slender climbing stems and aerial roots, so it grows best when trained upward. The green-on-green pattern can be subtle, with individual leaves showing different levels of lime, mint or pale green marking.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is a wet-tropical climber from Peninsular Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. 'Green on green' keeps the same split-leaf climbing structure, with variegation expressed through tonal green differences.
The pattern may look stronger on some leaves and less visible on others. As leaves harden, the green-on-green contrast can shift in visibility.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma variegata 'Green on green' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it away from pets and small children, and avoid sap contact with sensitive skin.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma was described by Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1893. The epithet tetrasperma means “four-seeded” and refers to the berries; 'Green on green' is grown as a tonal green variegated cultivar of this climbing species.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma variegata 'Green on green' has split climbing foliage with lime-to-mint tonal patterning.
