Rhaphidophora tetrasperma 'Goldrush' is a subtly variegated form of Rhaphidophora tetrasperma with split leaves and low-contrast yellow-gold patterning. The colour appears as warm tonal sections across selected leaves, with the amount and placement changing from leaf to leaf.
The plant keeps the species’ slender climbing stems and aerial roots, so it grows best with a pole, trellis or similar support. The pale gold areas need filtered light, steady root moisture and an airy substrate.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is a wet-tropical climber from Peninsular Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. 'Goldrush' keeps the same climbing framework, with variegation appearing as subtle yellow-gold markings within the split leaf blades.
Individual leaves may show a light wash, small warm-toned areas or a slightly stronger gold pattern. New leaves can vary in the amount and placement of the gold marking.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma 'Goldrush' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it away from pets and small children, and wash hands after pruning if sap contacts your skin.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma was described by Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1893. The epithet tetrasperma means “four-seeded” and refers to the berries; 'Goldrush' is grown as a low-contrast yellow-gold variegated cultivar of this climbing species.
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma 'Goldrush' has split climbing leaves with subtle yellow-gold patterning.
