Rebutia canigueralii 'Violet' is a striking cultivar of Rebutia canigueralii Cárdenas (1951), long known in cultivation under the older name Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis. This miniature cactus is prized for its unusual violet to mauve stems, arranged in compact clusters that form living sculptures in cultivation.
The parent species is native to Bolivia, where it grows on rocky slopes in high-altitude regions. Its compact size and clustered growth help it withstand the intense sun and cooler nights of its mountain habitat.
The genus name Rebutia honours Pierre Rebut, a 19th-century French cactus dealer and collector. The species epithet canigueralii commemorates Bolivian botanist Dr. Martín Cárdenas Canigueral, who described the species in 1951.
This miniature clustering cactus combines violet-toned stems with spectacular blooms. Order Rebutia canigueralii 'Violet' today and enjoy one of the most striking cultivars in the cactus world.
