Philodendron gloriosum
Philodendron gloriosum combines a low creeping stem with large, deep-green heart-shaped leaves. The surface is velvety, with a pale centre vein and lighter side veins branching across each leaf. Tall leaf stalks hold the foliage well above the creeping stem, giving the plant width without making it upright.
Each new leaf appears from the advancing tip of the creeping stem. Older sections remain behind, so the plant gradually occupies more horizontal ground. This growth habit is as distinctive as the foliage and separates it clearly from climbing velvet philodendrons.
