A thick stem travels horizontally across the surface, roots at its nodes and raises one long-stalked leaf after another. This creeping direction produces a low, outward-spreading plant instead of a vertical vine.
Each large blade is heart-shaped and velvety, with pale main veins branching through the green surface. New leaves rise near the advancing tip while older ones remain spaced behind, forming a broad row of upright foliage above the visible horizontal stem.
