Philodendron fibrosum aff. is a rare taxon closely allied to Philodendron fibrosum but shaped more as an appressed climber than a rosette plant, with broad dark velvety leaves and petioles carrying setose scales at the base. The foliage is rounded and cordate rather than narrow, and the contrast between the matte upper surface and paler underside gives it a heavy, plush look. It performs best when trained vertically so the leaves can broaden and sit flatter against a support.
Bright, filtered light, watering after the top 2–3 cm of substrate has dried, and a chunky mix with bark, coir, perlite, and charcoal suit it well. It prefers 20–28 °C and humidity in the 65–85% range. Like other philodendrons, it is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets.
