Peperomia 'Rana Verde' is a Peperomia albovittata cultivar with rounded green leaves and a broad, flattened habit. Its leaves are larger and cleaner green than 'Piccolo Banda', with yellow-green tones beneath the leaf and a calm, cushion-like shape in the pot.
The plant stays compact but spreads outward as it matures, making a low mound rather than a tall upright plant or trailing vine. Its smooth, slightly cupped leaves give it a softer appearance than strongly ribbed Peperomia caperata cultivars.
Peperomia albovittata is accepted as a species native to Ecuador. Peperomia 'Rana Verde' was developed in the Netherlands from Peperomia albovittata parent plants and selected for its green leaf colour, larger foliage, and flattened globe shape.
Its root system is fine, and its leaves are held close enough to make the plant look full while staying small. The plant grows with modest root volume, fleshy foliage, and a need for warm conditions with consistent but careful watering.
Several commonly grown Peperomia species are listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs. Peperomia 'Rana Verde' is generally handled as low-risk ornamental foliage, but repeated chewing should still be prevented to avoid damage to the plant and possible stomach upset in sensitive pets.
Peperomia belongs to Piperaceae, with a genus name derived from Greek words meaning “pepper” and “resembling”. Peperomia albovittata is the accepted species behind 'Rana Verde', which is the cultivar denomination used for this green-leaved selection.
Peperomia 'Rana Verde' stays low and full, with rounded green leaves held in a broad, flattened mound.
