Short spaces between leaves give this climber a closely layered stem. The blades are long, narrow and glossy, with cream markings ranging from fine streaks to broad pale sections against the dark green surface.
The leaves usually remain whole as the plant matures, so the narrow outline persists through maturity. A sheath remains attached along much of each leaf stalk and develops a slightly wavy edge, adding another useful identification feature when the variegation is subtle.
