Origin and background of Monstera standleyana variegata

Monstera standleyana is native from southeastern Nicaragua through Costa Rica and Panama to northwestern Colombia, where it grows as a climbing hemiepiphyte in wet tropical habitats.

The variegated plant is a cultivated foliage form. Its cream pattern can vary between nodes, while the narrow whole-leaf habit and climbing structure belong to the species.

Care for Monstera standleyana variegata

Give the vine a stable support and keep the stem attached as it lengthens; closely spaced nodes make it easy to train upward. Bright filtered light supports steady growth, but hot direct sun can scorch the cream tissue.
